In addition to her extensive performing and teaching experience, Dr. Dumlavwalla also maintains a varied and developing research portfolio. Her doctoral research focused on apprentice examiners at the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has also performed and/or presented at a number of international conferences and serves on the Teacher Education in Higher Ed and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committees for the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy. Dr. Dumlavwalla was also a member of the planning committee for the 2019 Conference of the Music Teachers National Association held in Spokane, Washington and the 2021 National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (Virtual). She is a member of the editorial boards for the MTNA e-Journal and the Canadian Music Educator. She also serves the pedagogy field as President for the Florida State Music Teachers Association.
At the Music Teachers National Association Conference in March 2018, Dr. Dumlavwalla received the MTNA E-Journal Article of the Year Award for her publication, "Transitioning from traditional to online piano lessons: Perceptions of students, parents and teacher."
