Canadian pianist, Diana Dumlavwalla is Associate Professor of Piano Pedagogy at Florida State University. Previously, Diana taught at Western University, University of Toronto, University of Windsor, Wilfrid Laurier University and the Beckett School. She serves as an examiner for the Royal Conservatory, a regular juror for festivals and competitions and President for the Florida State Music Teachers Association.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Diana has performed across three continents. She has appeared at the Burgos Conservatory Concert Hall in Spain, Jan Deyl Conservatory in the Czech Republic, University of Toowoomba in Australia, Pałac Małachowskich in Poland, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and many venues in London, U.K. She has also been featured in numerous concert series throughout the United States and Canada.
Diana’s research is featured in journals such as the International Journal of Music Education, Qualitative Research in Music Education, American Music Teacher, Canadian Music Teacher and Piano Magazine. She has written a book chapter found in “New Thoughts on Piano Performance” published by the London International Symposium. Diana has been involved in several webinars and digital projects for the Frances Clark Center and the Royal Conservatory. She regularly presents papers and workshops at conferences including those organized by MTNA, the Frances Clark Center, the International Society of Music Education, and College Music Society.
Diana completed the Doctor of Musical Arts Performance degree at the University of Toronto studying piano with James Parker and piano pedagogy with Midori Koga. She received her Master of Music (Piano Performance) at the Royal College of Music in London, Honours Bachelor of Music (Piano Performance and Voice) at Wilfrid Laurier University and an Associate diploma from the Royal Conservatory. She has studied with many other fine pedagogues including Agnes Olsheski, Virginia Blaha, Heather Taves, Yonty Solomon and Logan Skelton.
